So what's a DataTemplate? A DataTemplate is a template for displaying data in WPF.

Hey come on! That’s a stupid answer Philip. So what does a DataTemplate do and what can it do for me?

Ok, I’ll give a try. A DataTamplate is a structure to describe the way data is transformed into its visual presentation. Let me show you an example:

Let’s say you work at a phone company and you have database with all the phone numbers, names, addresses and billing information of your customers.

Ok, I can use WinForms with my .Net apllications, so why schould I learn just another GUI Framework? This is one of the questions that certainly will be thrown into discussion when someone mentions WPF.  But Windows Presentation Foundationn is more, more than just another GUI Framework. It is another way of planing and implementing a application Layout.

In this little series of blog articles I want to focus on one of the aspects, that as I think, is the essence of the WPF approach.

1. Data- Controls für WPF
   Endlich! Konnte sie zwar noch nicht ausprobieren, aber das Fehlen des guten alten Datagrids hat doch viele Windows-Forms Entwickler davon abgehalten, auf WPF umzusteigen.
2. Noch bessere Intellisense und Debugging für Javascript
   Wer einmal Javascript mit VS geschrieben und debuggt hat, der wird nicht mehr ohne wollen.
3. .NET Framework Client Profile Setup Package
   Eindeutig mein Lieblings Feature. Mit dieser Option werden bei der Installation einer .Net Anwendung nur noch die benötigten Bibliotheken auf das System kopiert.

Wenn ich genug Erfahrung mit den neuen Features gemacht habe werde ich sicherlich hier noch einiges darüber schreiben.
